EcoSheets supply the Department of Conservation, Regional Councils, Schools, Zoos, Environmental Research and Conservation groups with Lizards Shelters/Retreats
USES:
Shelters are used to monitor the numbers of reptiles in a given area which enables researches to gauge the effects of predators on the reptile population.
PREDATORS:
Mice, wasps, rats, ferrets, stoats, cats, all pose threats to the lizard population.
GROUND METHOD:
Cut sheets are placed in bush, scrub or undergrowth which the reptiles make their homes
under/in. A typical set up is 3 cut sheets with the first sheet placed on the ground and then spacers used, which could be dowel or timber 10-12mm thick, small stones or solid small tree branches 10-12mm thick.
This is repeated between layers and then some heavier rocks, timber or dirt on the top sheet to ensure it wont move.
They are warm in winter, cool in summer and last for years in the undergrowth giving the reptiles a safe environment to live in.
TREE METHOD:
Similar layered method (spacers need to be glued in place beforehand with sheets secured to the tree with cable ties, nails or similar).
